Herringbone flooring in Chichester
Floor & Form installs herringbone and chevron flooring in engineered oak and luxury vinyl tile across Chichester and West Sussex. Herringbone needs a flat subfloor and careful setting-out from the centre of the room, which is why we plan every layout before installation begins.

Setting-out is everything
A herringbone floor is laid from a centre line, so it reads straight down a hallway or through connecting doors. We plan the line, the border and the cuts at walls before any block is fixed.
Blocks are usually glued to a smooth, level base. Older floors in Chichester's period properties often need plywood overlay or levelling compound first.

Herringbone flooring in Chichester: common questions
- Is herringbone more expensive than plank flooring?
- Typically yes, because there is more labour in setting-out and fitting the small blocks, and slightly more wastage. We itemise this clearly in the quotation.
- Can I have herringbone in a kitchen?
- Yes. LVT herringbone from Amtico or Karndean is water resistant and very practical; engineered oak herringbone also works well with a hard-wax or lacquered finish.
