Flooring

Flooring chosen for the property, not the promotion

Floor & Form supplies and installs six flooring families: wool and synthetic carpet, bespoke stair runners, engineered wood, luxury vinyl tile, natural fibre flooring and laminate. Each is specified around the room, the subfloor and how the household lives, then installed by our own experienced fitters.

Carpets

The right carpet depends on fibre, construction and room use rather than looks alone. Wool offers the finest hand and resilience, wool blends add stain resistance without losing character, and modern synthetics suit high-traffic family areas at lower cost. Loop pile resists flattening in halls, while twist and velvet piles bring softness to bedrooms and living rooms.

  • Wool and wool-blend specialists. Genuine expertise in natural fibre performance, not just supply.
  • Pile matched to room use. Loop, twist, velvet and patterned constructions chosen for durability and feel.
  • Quality underlay as standard. Underlay specified to suit subfloor, footfall and acoustic needs.

Stair Runners

A bespoke stair runner is a carpet made to precise stair and landing dimensions, usually leaving an exposed border of timber either side and finished with whipped edges or bound tape. It suits straight, winding and open-plan staircases alike, and can incorporate borders, stripes or pattern to complement an existing hall carpet or stand as a striking feature in its own right.

  • Templated to your staircase. Every tread, winder and landing measured individually, not assumed from a standard width.
  • Pattern, stripe and border expertise. Advice on proportion, direction and colour so the finished runner reads correctly.
  • Whipped edges or bound tape. Finished by hand for a crisp, durable edge that resists fraying.

Engineered Wood

Engineered wood consists of a real timber veneer bonded to cross-layered plywood or board beneath, giving it greater dimensional stability than solid wood. This makes it better suited to underfloor heating and homes with fluctuating humidity, while still offering the appearance, texture and longevity of solid timber, provided plank width, wear layer and finish are specified correctly for the room.

  • Stable across seasons. Cross-layered construction resists the movement solid wood is prone to.
  • Underfloor heating compatible. Correctly specified engineered boards work confidently over underfloor heating systems.
  • Grade and finish guidance. Advice on rustic, natural and select grades, and oiled, lacquered or brushed finishes.

Luxury Vinyl Tile

Luxury vinyl tile, or LVT, replicates the appearance of wood or stone in a durable, water-resistant format available as planks, tiles or herringbone-effect layouts, fitted either gluedown or as a click system. Gluedown gives the most stable, premium result and suits larger or heated areas, while click systems suit smaller rooms and situations where future removal may be needed.

  • Water and wear resistant. Well suited to kitchens, utility rooms and busy family areas.
  • Herringbone and plank layouts. Realistic wood and stone visuals in a range of formats.
  • Correct floor preparation. Smoothing compounds and damp-proof membranes specified where needed.

Natural Flooring

Natural flooring covers plant-fibre weaves such as sisal, seagrass and coir, alongside wool-rich blends that combine natural texture with a softer feel. Each fibre has distinct strengths: sisal is durable and versatile, seagrass is naturally stain-resistant but unsuitable for stairs, coir is robust but coarse, and wool-rich weaves suit bedrooms where comfort matters more than pure texture.

  • Honest fibre guidance. Clear advice on where sisal, seagrass and coir genuinely work, and where they do not.
  • Specialist installation. Natural weaves require particular handling, seaming and acclimatisation.
  • Border and binding options. Bound or bordered edges to finish natural flooring neatly.
Laminate flooring in a light, practical home office setting

Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring is a practical, cost-effective option built from a printed decorative layer over a high-density fibreboard core, and it can suit lower-priority areas such as home offices, guest bedrooms or rental accommodation. In principal living spaces and higher-specification homes, engineered wood or LVT generally offer better durability, repairability and long-term appearance, and we advise accordingly.

  • Honest advice. We tell you plainly where laminate is a sound choice and where it is not.
  • Cost-effective for the right rooms. A sensible option for lower-priority or transitional spaces.
  • Good moisture resistance ranges available. Certain laminate ranges suit kitchens and utility areas better than others.
